QuickLabel Printers for GHS Labelling Compliance

Every chemical produced or imported and shipped within Europe must be labelled with  colour codes according to a harmonized classification of hazardous chemicals. This harmonised labelling is intended to increase efficiency in packaging and shipping logistics and to prevent accidents by making toxic chemical packaging understood by speakers of every language.

By 2008, the UN “Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals,” called GHS, is to be adopted throughout Europe. To comply, all chemical producers and importers of chemicals are responsible for packaging chemicals with colour-coded labels so that labels can be understood by speakers of any language. Chemical labels must have at least two colours.

QuickLabel Systems offers the QLS-2000 Xe, a 2-colour label printer that allows chemical manufacturers and distributors to quickly print labels in any two colours. The QLS-2000 Xe is a thermal transfer label printer, a digital label printer much like a barcode printer, and can print text, barcodes, symbols, logos, and other graphics in any two colours. Label colours are printed with the use of thermal transfer ribbon, a kind of dry printing ink. The QLS-2000 Xe prints two-colour labels using two rolls of thermal transfer ribbon.
